She brought her NYC energy and passion down to Florida and joined Scanship’s US operations from the very beginning. Meet Chemical Operations Manager Keisha Jackson Rodriguez.
I was born and raised in the Bronx, NY and moved to Florida in 2002. I’m a mother of three and grandmother of one, and as a former gymnast and dancer I still lead a very active lifestyle including golf and coaching Youth American football. I am focused on problem solving and swift resolutions, I think it is the NYC energy and lifestyle that is rooted in me.
People always ask me how I got into wastewater treatment. Chemistry was not my favorite subject, I majored in Communication Arts in college, so I never expected that I would end up managing chemicals. I was working with an amazing person in hospitality who believed in me and saw my potential. I had over 15 years of customer service experience including supervising and quality insurance. Scanship believed those skills would be an asset to their US organization, so they offered me an opportunity. When you give people a chance, it can be life changing for everyone.
I started handling customer relations and administrative work upon Scanship Americas start-up. Considering I did not know anything about our technology I studied tools provided by our CTO, took water treatment courses, and shadowed our technicians on board to enhance my knowledge of the Scanship system. 15 years later – here we are. As the Chemical Operations Manager I manage the production, shipping logistics and sales of our treatment chemicals. I build and maintain client relationships, including courtesy visits on board to ensure the efficiency of our system operations and chemical performance.
From two employees, we have grown to a diverse and skilled team. I am so proud of what we are doing. I love the transparent and dedicated culture we have created in Scanship Americas. People invest their time in what they believe in, and I believe the Scanship technology is the sustainable solution for marine waste management, I believe in Vow. Converting waste into energy is already the present, but also represents the future change of our world. We care about our planet and the people on it. We serve a valuable purpose and keep our promise to our clients. That is our Vow.
