Commissioning & Service Engineer

Karol Arndt’s career has been shaped by hands-on engineering, international travel, and a drive to deliver technology that makes a real difference.

He started as an Automation Engineer in Poland, building a strong foundation in PLC systems and technical site work. Over time, he moved into more complex projects across Europe, working with hybrid power systems, variable frequency drives, and DC-link distribution.

Today, Karol is a Commissioning & Service Engineer at Vow. His role is to bring our Green Energy solutions to life at the customer’s site – from installation and startup to final commissioning. He also supports ongoing service and maintenance, ensuring systems run safely, efficiently, and in line with the customer’s sustainability goals.

Collaboration on site

Because the work is project-based and global, no two weeks look the same.

A typical day can include configuring control systems, troubleshooting PLCs, running system tests, and coordinating closely with local teams. Training customer personnel is also an important part of the role.

“The best moment is a successful startup,” Karol says. “Taking a complex system from drawings to full operation is a great feeling.”

Projects with impact

One highlight in Karol’s career was being part of the commissioning team for Icon of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship.

“It was a huge milestone to help ensure such a pioneering installation performed as intended,” he explains.

More recently, he has been involved in commissioning the Green Development facility in Rhode Island, USA, supporting the startup and fine-tuning of large-scale biochar and renewable energy systems.

For Karol, projects like these are particularly motivating because the environmental impact is visible.

“Knowing the installations I work on contribute to the green transition makes the job meaningful,” he says.

Balance and curiosity

Karol describes Vow as professional, innovation-driven, and highly collaborative, with strong trust and flexibility for teams working across time zones.

Outside of work, he enjoys travelling, exploring local cuisines, and following developments in automotive technology.

Looking ahead, he aims to continue taking on challenging site assignments while growing toward more senior responsibilities.
