Vow ASA: Powerful drivers create strong pull for Vow solutions

February 4th, 2022

Along with other speakers from prominent and leading companies listed on Oslo Børs, Vow CEO Henrik Badin was invited to speak at Pareto’s Power & Renewable Conference 2022 on 3 February.

“It is always great to be back at a Pareto stage, meeting shareholders and potential investors, and talking about our recent achievements. This time it felt particularly good, since it gave me the opportunity to talk about the agreement that we signed the day before”, said Henrik Badin.

He was referring to the news that Vow, Vow Green Metals and a global producer of non-ferrous had signed a letter of intent which could eventually lead to the construction of several large biocarbon production facilities, for which technology would be supplied by Vow.

In the presentation, Badin explained how powerful trends and drivers such as the circular economy, new policies and regulation and economic realities such as surging cost of power and carbon emissions, motivate industries to respond.

According to Badin, waste valorisation and decarbonising is now higher on the agenda than ever before in most industry board rooms, and this has created a strong pull for Vow technology and solutions.

To demonstrate this point and indicate the inherent value of shifting to more sustainable solutions, Badin pointed to some key figures for the potential first biocarbon plant that is sketched out in the recent letter of intent.

“With an annual production of 50 000 tonnes of carbon neutral biocarbon from sustainable feedstock such as wood materials and biomass waste, this plant would also generate 300 GWh of CO2 neutral syngas. This biocarbon and syngas would replace fossil coke and gas equivalent to EUR 37 million and EUR 32 million respectively,” he said.

Badin ended his presentation by reminding the audience of some key financials for Vow. From 2017 to 2020, the company reported an increase in revenues from NOK 247 million to NOK 460 million and a stable EBITDA margin of 10-12 percent, and order backlog has more than quadrupled NOK 469 million at the end of 2017 to more than NOK 2 billion in the most recent reported figure in October 2021.

“We are very proud that we have delivered profitable growth for several consecutive years, and through the pandemic. With the record high order backlog and pull for our technology and solutions, no one should be surprised to see our company continue our strong growth”, Badin rounded off.
